Boost your energy and stamina with HiLo Interval. This app lets you create timers that alternate between two intervals: low and high. You can use the low interval for slower-paced exercise, such as jogging, and the high interval for intense exercise such as wind sprints. (You can also use either interval to designate a rest period.)

•PLAY DIFFERENT MUSIC FOR EACH INTERVAL
Work out to your favorite tunes in your music library! Use the library to organize your songs into various playlists, then open HiLo Interval and link your playlists to one or both intervals of a timer. The app can play your slower songs during the low interval, then get you pumped by cranking your most energetic tunes for the high interval. There’s nothing quite like breaking into a sprint to “Eye of the Tiger”!*

•RANDOMIZATION
Any high or low Interval can be randomized by up to 50% of the interval’s total length. For instance you could create a high interval for wind sprints with a length of 15 seconds, then give it a randomization value of ±5 seconds, so that the interval will run anywhere from 10-20 seconds. You never know exactly how long the interval will last; you just have to go all-out until it ends!

Why is randomization important? When you train with fixed intervals, you risk conditioning yourself according to predictable patterns, and things don’t always happen that way. What if you’re a boxer, exhausted in a late round, whose opponent exposes an opening? Or a linebacker, worn down in the 4th quarter, who suddenly gets an open shot at the quarterback?

By randomizing the intervals, you can condition yourself both physically and psychologically to summon explosive bursts of power at any instant, even when you’re dog-tired, and to sustain the power for an undetermined length of time.

• GROUP TIMERS INTO WORKOUTS
You can play individual timers and have them repeat, or you can organize multiple timers into groups called “workouts” and run them sequentially. This allows you to apply interval training to entire exercise regiments, such as cross-fit workouts.

• RECORDED HISTORIES
Each Timer (or Workout) records its total running time, allowing you to also use HiLo Interval to time your entire workout.
